Our Work

We’re on a mission to empower grassroots NGOs in Latin America with contextually-relevant sexuality education programs that tackle their communities’ most pressing sexual and reproductive health and rights concerns... and we’re starting in

Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

The world is populated by over 7.9 billion people. As humans, we each have our own way of thinking. This is a product of our experiences, our education, our access to information, and the influence of the people around us… and most of us are very set in our ways.

But often, when we speak to someone else, when we truly listen, reflect, analyze, and put ourselves in another’s shoes, empathizing with them, our way of thinking may change. Conversations can shift people's perspective. So can education. And stories. And games.

That’s where we come in.

Our sexuality education programs not only make information about sexual and reproductive health and rights accessible to those farthest from it, they also aim to shift people’s perspective beyond their usual frame of reference. Shifts in perspective regarding sexuality and interpersonal interactions can enable safer and healthier relationships, and thus promote more empathizing and thriving communities. Shifts in perspective are key for social change.

Why Sexuality Education and Why Latin America?

Although comprehensive sexuality education has been shown to increase gender equity, improve healthy communication in relationships, and reduce intimate partner violence and childhood sexual abuse, it has been politicized and is opposed by conservative parties in the Latin America. Communities living in social vulnerability are most affected by lack of access to information, thereby propagating the cycle of poverty further.

Our Approach

We work with established grassroots NGOs to co-create and deliver tailor-made sexuality education programs that tackle their communities' most pressing sexual and reproductive health and rights concerns.

The following aspects are fundamental to our process:

Community Involvement

All program development centers on co-creation; the learners themselves define the program priorities and we rely on community-based research and on-going meaningful participation throughout.

Existing Networks

We partner with established NGOs to leverage their standing in their communities, and design programs to fit their operational framework to ensure suitability and long-term sustainability.

Lens-Checking

We don’t proceed past any sign-off stage without a thorough lens-check, involving contributors with different intersecting identities, so as to make the programs as unbiased, contextually relevant, and constructive as possible.

We aim to scale our reach across communities living in social vulnerability in Latin America by building collaborative partnerships, and by leveraging easily scalable app technologies to adapt the content to communities’ local contexts and needs. Active learner participation establishes those needs, ultimately making our programs products of community-led development. This way both the construction and content of the programs empower previously marginalized communities to develop their own solutions for social change.
